Wenge
| With its rich dark brown color, wenge comes from Africa and has a very close grain and fine black veins. It is fairly straight grained with a coarse, dramatic texture. Its porosity dampens sound waves making it a less than ideal choice for the soundboard or back. But beautiful and durable, it makes an excellent (and less expensive) overlay substitute for ebony. |
